For this seasonal campaign, the objective was to create a series of animations that brought a sense of magic and whimsy to a collection of Halloween landing pages. Rather than relying on large character performances, the motion needed to feel effortless and enhance the artwork without distracting from the shopping experience.
Each animation was designed to play for five seconds while maintaining fast load times across desktop and app experiences.
The creative team provided a series of static 3D scenes for multiple Halloween categories, including the campaign hub, décor, candy, and costumes. Each scene included creative direction while leaving space to develop the motion language and bring the artwork to life.
The challenge wasn't creating big animation, it was creating believable animation.
Every movement needed to feel intentional. Clouds drifted with slight offsets, stars rotated independently, glitter behaved like environmental noise instead of repeating patterns, and character performances relied on tiny timing differences that made the illustrations feel alive.
Because these animations live on ecommerce pages, motion had to support the artwork rather than compete with product content. The goal was for visitors to notice that the page felt magical before consciously noticing the animation itself.
The entire project was created in Adobe After Effects using exclusively native tools and effects.
By relying entirely on After Effects' built-in capabilities, the project remained lightweight, portable, and easy for future teams to maintain without third-party plugins.
The final animations brought consistency across each Halloween campaign page while giving every scene of magic and whimsy.
Subtle cloud movement, expressive character animation, rotating 3D stars, and shimmering surface details brought a magical, seasonal feel to each scene.
